Active Silicon to the (mountain) rescue

  • Published October 2017

At Active Silicon there’s no such thing as a quiet period but when three of our adventurous colleagues set off on a hiking trip to the beautiful mountains of Swedish Lapland this summer for a bit of re-energizing time out, the weekend turned out to be more exciting than they had anticipated.

The team of Emile, Rich and Chris (along with a Swedish friend) spent four days hiking and climbing, including the 2097m peak of Kebnekaise, in sub-zero temperatures and at some points, deep snow. They were fully prepared and equipped for the weekend, unlike the unlucky hiker they had to rescue along the way. Having lost the trail and fallen through the snow, the Swedish walker was near-hypothermic when she was spotted by the Active Silicon team, who brought her to safety and were able to call off the official rescue helicopter. Our engineers have been the subject of many articles in the trade press in the past, but this is their first national newspaper coverage! It all goes to prove the importance of preparation and resolve – aspects in which we pride ourselves both in and out of the office 🙂
