Job Opportunity at Active Silicon – 18/H01
FPGA Design Engineer
Active Silicon Ltd., Iver, United Kingdom
Active Silicon is a market leader in the design and manufacture of sophisticated computer imaging products. Our products are used in applications from space missions to deep-sea vehicles – in fact in virtually all areas of science and industry, including manufacturing, life sciences, medical imaging, robotics and security.
In line with ongoing growth, we are currently expanding our R&D team and are looking for engineers to work with new and emerging technologies to meet the evolving needs of our customers. The role requires an inquisitive attitude, a desire to continually learn new skills and tackle challenges, and the ability to balance multiple projects.
The primary role of a Hardware FPGA Design Engineer is the development of high speed digital design using VHDL.
Key skills required are:
- At least 3 years FPGA design experience in a commercial environment using VHDL or Verilog
- Ability to work well within the product team
- Understand software issues and ideally some C/C++ programming experience
- Proficiency in planning and achieving goals within agreed timeframes
As a hands-on and agile company, customers benefit from the contact they have with our engineers directly in pre- and after-sales support, so ability to communicate with customers at a technical level is important. This may also involve some second line technical support for products that you have been involved with.
Being part of a small team, you will be able to influence future product strategy, as well as streamline our design processes.
Active Silicon is an established company with a modern office in Iver, between Uxbridge and Slough. We will offer a competitive salary depending on experience, plus potential for a quarterly bonus based on company performance. The company makes an additional 5% contribution of salary to the group pension scheme and offers 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. We hold regular social events including a summer barbecue and Christmas party.
