The Active-TMR01-HD-SDI interface board is a solution for real-time low latency HD-SDI video from the Tamron MP1010M camera. In addition the interface board can provide simultaneous analog output in Standard Definition (SD) video in 720p50/60 modes with options for cropping or scaling for 16:9 displays.

The interface board provides a cost-effective solution to take full advantage of the high definition digital video provided by the camera. The interface board connects directly to the camera’s digital output to provide superior image quality and supports all the HD-SDI modes of the camera up to 1.5Gbps.

A DIP switch located on the board allows the video mode to be selected from power up without the need to send serial commands to the camera. The video mode along with other interface board specific modes may also be controlled by serial communications.

There is a built-in test pattern which conforms to the SMPTE RP-219-2002 specification.

HD Visually Lossless Compression (HD-VLCTM) is a technique for compressing HD image data into a standard SDI stream. This mode can be selected via the DIP switch or via serial commands. This allows much greater cable length with no noticeable visual loss of quality.  A decoder is required at the other end of the cable to convert back to HD-SDI – shortly available from Active Silicon.

There are OEM options (via custom firmware) for meta-data to be inserted into the stream either in the line blanking period or within the video data itself.

3G-SDI support via the new MP1110M-VC camera (due out later this year). This module will also support the Sony range at 3G-SDI rates.
