As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly organised and commercially aware Production & Material Controller to play a pivotal role in ensuring our products are delivered on time, in full, and to the highest quality standards.

Job title: Production & Material Controller
Location: Langley, UK (Elizabeth Line, just outside NW London)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 26 days annual holiday (plus public holidays).

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing / industrial engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline or HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
Experience: Experience in Manufacturing Planning or Production Control within electronics (ideally SME environment)

The Role

The Production & Material Controller owns the end-to-end flow of materials and production.
You will ensure the right parts are in the right place at the right time — sequenced correctly to meet customer commitments while maintaining efficiency and quality.
Balancing production scheduling, WIP control and capacity planning with material availability and procurement coordination, you will act as the critical link between Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Build and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
  • Create daily and weekly production schedules to achieve OTIF (On Time, In Full)
  • Sequence jobs to optimise efficiency and minimise changeovers
  • Balance production loading and capacity, escalating issues where required
  • Lead daily shop floor review meetings to monitor performance and resolve issues

Shop Floor Order & WIP Management

  • Raise and manage Works Orders (ensuring BOM and revision accuracy)
  • Monitor WIP status and update MRP accordingly
  • Provide forward visibility of customer commitment dates
  • Maintain accurate production data within ERP/MRP systems
  • Lead daily shop floor review meetings to monitor performance and resolve issues

Material & Shortage Management

  • Generate kit lists and support kitting and packaging activities
  • Proactively identify and escalate material shortages
  • Work closely with Purchasing on PO priorities, allocations and lead times
  • Manage free-issued components to subcontract manufacturers
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate MRP data

Subcontract & Logistics Coordination

  • Manage despatch of component kits to sub-assembly partners (including our principal assembler in Poland)
  • Generate and manage shipping documentation
  • Ensure compliance with ESD and MSL handling and storage requirements

Inventory & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead annual stock checks and reconcile discrepancies
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across Operations

About you

Essential

  • Experience in Manufacturing Planning or Production Control within electronics (ideally SME environment)
  • Strong ERP/MRP system experience
  • Excellent data literacy and analytical capability
  • Comfortable reading BOMs, drawings, work instructions and managing revision control
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functionally

Desirable

  • Exposure to Lean, 5S, Kanban, SMED, S&OP or capacity modelling
  • Experience in configuration control
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing supply chains

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing / industrial engineering, Supply Chain or related discipline

  • HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
