Hexagon to acquire Waygate Technologies
Hexagon AB has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Waygate Technologies.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Hexagon AB is a leading provider of precision measurement, positioning, and autonomous solutions. It has approximately 24,500 employees in 50 countries. The acquisition will support the expansion of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence (MI) Business Area into the non-destructive testing (NDT) market.
“By combining Waygate’s NDT expertise with Hexagon’s precision measurement portfolio, software capabilities, and global infrastructure, we will create a uniquely integrated offering that helps our customers achieve higher quality, greater efficiency, and improved confidence across the full product lifecycle” said Anders Svensson, President and CEO of Hexagon.
Currently owned by Baker Hughes, Waygate Technologies is a German specialist in NDT and industrial inspection solutions, including 2D X-ray, 3D CT and remote visual inspection (RVI) systems. It employs circa 1,500 staff across 25 locations.
Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, Lorenzo Simonelli, commented that “This transaction marks another significant milestone and reinforces our ongoing commitment to long-term value creation for our shareholders”.
The total consideration for the acquisition is approximately $1.45bn, to be paid in cash and on a debt-free basis. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
