AMETEK acquires Virtek Vision International
US-based industrial technology solutions provider AMETEK has announced the acquisition of Virtek Vision International, a Canadian laser-based manufacturer.
Virtek Vision International, specializing in the development and manufacturing of advanced 3D laser projectors, smart cameras, and quality control inspection systems, will become part of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group (EIG) but will continue to operate as an independent organization through their Creaform business. Creaform operates in several sectors including manufacturing, aerospace and energy, offering 3D scanning, reverse engineering, quality control, non-destructive testing, product development, and MRO.
David A. Zapico, AMETEK Chairman and CEO, explained that “Virtek is … an excellent strategic fit with our Creaform business. Their strong technology capabilities nicely complement Creaform enabling a broader suite of automated 3D scanning and inspection capabilities supported by advanced software and algorithms.”
Dietmar Wennemer, President & CEO of Virtek Vision International, confirmed that “Together, we will boost accuracy, streamline workflows, and create digital production records to support efficient, error-free manufacturing.”
Virtek records annual sales of approximately $40 million while AMETEK has just released financial results for Q3 2024 citing sales during the quarter as $1.71 billion, a 5% increase compared to the third quarter of 2023. The terms of this acquisition have not been disclosed.
