Photron Inc., Japan, manufacturer of high-speed imaging systems, has announced the acquisition of AOS Technologies AG, the Swiss-based camera manufacturer.

Photron’s range of high-speed imaging products includes megapixel image resolution recording for broadcast imaging and ruggedized systems for on-board automotive safety testing. Photron became a wholly owned subsidiary of IMAGICA Robot Holdings in 2011 and has made a number of acquisitions in the last five years.

Takashi Takimizu, President of Photron, commented on the acquisition, “AOS Technologies brings engineering depth and a strong product portfolio that is complementary to Photron’s long-term vision”. The deal is expected to expand Photron’s technical capabilities and grow its presence across high-performance imaging markets.

AOS Technologies’ high-speed cameras and streaming are used in industrial, automotive crash test and defense applications. “Joining the Photron Group enables us to accelerate innovation while preserving the strengths that made AOS successful,” said Stephan Trost, Managing Director of AOS Technologies.

The company’s website further confirms that “By joining forces with Photron, we are strengthening our ability to innovate, expand our global reach, and deliver even greater value to our partners and customers.”

AOS Technologies will continue operations from its Baden-Dättwil headquarters in Switzerland, with its full staff and organizational framework intact. Both organizations will uphold their independent product offerings and distribution channels. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
