Headquartered in France and with production facilities in France, the Netherlands and USA, Photonis is a global manufacturer of electro-optic components used in the detection and amplification of ions, electrons and photons. Their products enable night vision tubes, spectrometer detectors, telescopes and high-energy physics experiments.

Xenics was founded in 2000 in Leuven, Belgium, as a designer and manufacturer of infrared sensors, cores and cameras. Providing a range of line-scan and area-scan products for the vSWIR, SWIR and LWIR ranges, Xenics’ components can be found in applications across machine vision, scientific research, surveillance, transportation and medical imaging.

The acquisition is expected to support increasingly technological development and a reach into a wider geographical market for both companies. It’s being financed by Pemberton, CIC and BNP Paribas and is expected to be finalized in early 2023, subject to the usual clearances.

Photonis CEO, Jérôme Cerisier, commented, “With this acquisition, we are aiming to create a European integrated leader in advanced imaging in high-end markets.”

Xenics CEO, Paul Ryckaert, confirmed that “By combining its strengths with the ones of Photonis Group, Xenics will benefit from Photonis expertise and international footprint which will allow us to accelerate our growth.”

We’ll be keeping an eye on the development of this acquisition, and future market developments. Follow us on social media to stay informed.
