Industry News: Hexagon Acquires ITRES
Hexagon AB, the Swedish provider of measurement technologies, has acquired ITRES Research Ltd, the Canadian developer of airborne hyperspectral imaging instruments.
Hexagon supplies precision measurement, positioning and autonomous solutions to sectors including industrial, aerospace, agriculture and mining. The acquisition is set to strengthen their suite of airborne sensing and processing products for geodata development. Anders Svensson, President and CEO of Hexagon, commented that “By integrating hyperspectral and thermal sensing into our portfolio, we further expand the range of information that can be captured and analysed.”
ITRES manufactures, sells, supports, and operates high-performance airborne hyperspectral and thermal mapping systems in two product lines for crewed aircraft and UAV platforms. “Joining Hexagon allows us to build on [our reputation for delivering high performance airborne hyperspectral and thermal imaging solutions] while providing our customers access to complementary technologies, deeper engineering resources, and a broader global presence” said Steven Mah, President and CEO of ITRES.
ITRES will become part of Hexagon’s Infrastructure & Geospatial Business Area, within the Scanning & Mapping Division. As part of Hexagon, ITRES customers will gain access to a broader ecosystem of technologies, expertise, and resources spanning the entire airborne mapping workflow, from mission planning and data acquisition to processing, analysis, and final deliverables.
