News from the International Vision Standards Meeting
The Spring 2026 IVSM was held in Prague from 13th to 17th April, organised by the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA).
As usual, there were technical discussions both on the various physical layer standards used in machine vision and the GenICam software standard that all of them use, along with a PlugFest to check device compatibility.
The GenICam meeting also addressed practical issues: the completion of the move to GitLab for future releases and briefings on the implications of the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The big news for GigE Vision was the formal approval of version 3.0 of the standard.
The CoaXPress meeting, chaired by Active Silicon’s CTO Chris Beynon, worked through remaining points needed for its version 3.0. While some final edits remain, we agreed on the next steps and are on track for a planned fall release. The meeting included an overview from a high-speed design lecture from EqcoLogic’s CTO, Maarten Kuijk, to aid understanding of the specification and design requirements for CXP-25, followed by a demonstration of their latest chips running at that speed.
The social side included a bit of time for a quick look at the beautiful old part of Prague, and a formal dinner in a monastery near the castle that was also a brewery!
The next IVSM will be in Ottawa in late October – look out for updates.
