Exosens has announced that it has acquired Emberion.

Headquartered in Mérignac, France, Exosens (formerly Photonis) is a provider of electro-optical technologies for lifescience, industrial control, nuclear and defense applications. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Exosens’ position as a leading provider of advanced imaging technologies across the full spectrum of light.

Emberion is a Finnish producer of visible to short wavelength infrared (VIS-SWIR) and thermal imaging products. It specializes in quantum dots technology, designing its own CMOS readout chip (ROIC) that enables image sensors to detect a wide range of light, from visible to short-wave infrared.

Anssi Kariola, Chairman of the Board at Emberion, commented that “Combining Emberion’s patented technology with Exosens’ existing offering, sales channel and large-volume manufacturing capability enables true large-scale global deployment of Emberion’s unique technology.”

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
