Key Takeaways from VISION

With a new exhibitor record and 23% increase in visitors, VISION 2024 was buzzing with innovation and collaboration.

Alongside the exhibition were pre-bookable tours, an extensive seminar program and the presentation of the VISION awards. Notable messages from the show included the challenges arising from geopolitical situations, the increasing ease of implementing AI into machine vision systems, and the wider availability of hyperspectral and SWIR solutions for a wider range of applications.

Active Silicon had a great show, introducing our new products and partnering for the first time with our sister company, Steatite, to offer computing solutions too.

New product launches

We brought a few recent releases to the event to showcase our latest offerings to the machine vision industry.

We’re adding a series of industrial computers to our Embedded range – the Oncilla family. At the show, we had two CoaXPress versions of the PC and one Mini version powering our demos.

The Oncilla Machine Vision Computer – CoaXPress is a rugged and compact PC designed specifically for capturing and transmitting high-quality images and video while leaving plenty of compute power for other processing tasks. Its features include 12th generation Intel Core i7 Series processor, 16GB DDR5 4800MHz industrial memory, and an integrated FireBird Quad CXP-12 Frame Grabber with PoCXP.

The compact Oncilla Machine Vision Computer – Mini is a powerful and cost-effective PC with extremely rugged features. With its tiny footprint of just 150 x 105 x 52.3 mm it is ideal for IoT gateway applications in smart manufacturing, smart logistics, and factory automation.

In addition to live demos of our FireBird Quad CXP-12 frame grabber and Harrier 10x IP/HDMI Autofocus-Zoom camera, we also presented our FireBird CoaXPress over Fiber frame grabber. This card acquires data at a rate of up to 40 Gbps using cost-effective and easily available fiber optic cables and Ethernet technology, and versions are available with data forwarding as well.

Industry networking

With so many companies and individuals in the same place at the same time, VISION remains the single best opportunity to meet with partners and customers. This year, a significant number of end users were also actively seeking solutions, providing us with opportunities not only to strengthen existing partnerships but also to pursue new ones.

Attending VISION is always an invaluable experience, providing us with fresh insights into the latest trends and innovations in our industry. From engaging with industry leaders to discovering cutting-edge technologies, the show offered a comprehensive view of where the market is headed. The connections we made and the knowledge we gained will undoubtedly shape our strategic decisions moving forward, and it goes without saying that we’ll leverage these insights to better serve our customers and continue driving innovation in the field.
