Siemens acquires machine vision solution provider, Inspekto
In yet another acquisition squeezing into the 2022/23 financial year, Siemens has announced it has acquired machine vision startup, Inspekto. It will become part of their Factory Automation business unit within Siemens’ Digital Industries.
Siemens is a global giant focused on industry, infrastructure, transport and healthcare. Their Digital Industries division aims to drive customers’ digital transformation by collecting, analysing and using the massive amount of data created in the IIOT. Rainer Brehm, CEO of Siemens Factory Automation, commented that “Inspekto’s innovative AI technology and capabilities are another valuable addition to our industrial AI software portfolio”.
Inspekto provides AI-driven inspection technology for industrial processes, specializing in easy-to-deploy, out-of-the box automated visual inspection systems. Founded in Israel, Inspekto was previously owned by German venture capitalist, D11Z. “With Siemens AG, Inspekto has now found a strong partner to continue to successfully develop and offer the products, technologies, and services of Inspekto GmbH worldwide” said Inspekto CEO, Ulrich Eger.
Siemens has been using Inspekto’s solutions along with other customers including Bosch, BMW, Bentley and Toyota. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed but we understand that Inspekto will continue to operate under its own name.
